Sink and Tap
Recently refurbished side unit was repainted, but required pretty substantial modifications to be used as a kitchen unit. The unit would house several water containers, and also be modified for shelves.
The top section is a large single drawer, which would obviously need alterations to take a sink cut into the top. Rather than lose the drawer entirely the panel inside was cut and reshaped to form a half drawer allowing the gap to slide around the sink. The drawer nicely fits the induction hob and allows this to be put away between uses.
The middle shelf inside was cut and reshaped into an upright panel creating the correct shape to house the water containers.
The hole for the sink was cut in to the top and some internal modifications were needed for the sink, which was larger than we had anticipated, to fit neatly into the hole. The removed cut section from the top was sanded, and shaped to fit inside the sink, with a quarter circle shape removed to fit around the tap.
Rather than fit a separate pump for the tap, we used a tap that had an internal motor and 18650 internal battery. This tap comes with a stand that can be fitted next to the sink, but due to the shape of the sink could not be used as the tap would sit too far back. This was overcome by removing the stand and cutting an exact internal diameter circular wood stand that was attached from underneath the sink, allowing the tap to tightly fit above in the correct location.
